Microsoft Office, Visual Basic, SQL, Windows File Server
While at the University of Alberta, I wrote a property management database as my part time job for Laidley Management Ltd.
The database was written in Microsoft Access, with the actual data being stored on a central server and each workstation having a copy of the client application. The database provided Laidley Management Ltd. with the ability to keep track of monthly rent, maintenance, payments to property owners and other financials including the pooling of resources and profits between owners.
In addition to writing the software, I also set up and administered the local network. Originally using Windows 3.1, then moving to Windows 95 and Windows 98.
The software has been in use now for over 10 years and the only maintenance required has been when the Canadian Government Service Tax (GST) rate has changed.
